Bazm-e-Minhaj and the Urdu society jointly arranged a competition on the subject of ‘Iqbal and Hussainiyat’ to mark the occasion of birth anniversary of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal and keeping the ongoing holy month of Muharram in view. The speech verse recitation competition was held on November 9 at Minhaj College for Women Lahore. Also included in this competition was the recitation of the verses of Iqbal in the Persian language. 25 students participated in speech competition, while 11 students took part in competition of Iqbal verses.
A number of prominent personalities belonging to academia were invited as guests from very reputed institutions including Dr Zahoor Ahmed Azher, Dr Sultan Shah, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Shahid and Dr Muhammad Ijaz Butt.
The entire program continued for 6 hours. A very tough competition was witnessed on the occasion as the students put in their best and performed to the best of their abilities. Deciding on the winners was not an easy task for the judges as well, given the high quality performance.

At the end, the respected guests appreciated the performance of students. They said that such competitions should be held from time to time as they allowed students an opportunity to learn the art of public speaking and gain confidence. They said that learning process should not merely revolve around strict curricular activities, rather extra-curricular activities such as speech competitions and other contests were part and parcel of any sound educational planning. They also appreciated Bazm-e-Minhaj for organizing such events in a splendid manner.
