Code of examination for all Intermediate programs

 

All the students will have to abide by the following code of examination:

  • Students will be judged through monthly assessment report.
  • On not showing satisfactory performance in the Internal Examinations (send-up, monthly tests, test session and Pre-Board tests) students will not be permitted to appear in the Board.
  • In case of serious illness during Internal Examinations, the students will have to appear in the re-test Otherwise; they will be expelled from the college roll.
  • All the dues must be cleared before sitting in examination.
  • Students who use unfair means during the Examination will have to face the disciplinary action and their paper will be cancelled.
  • Students with “F”Grade in Internal Examinations are not allowed to appear in External Examination.

Examination Procedure

In each semester, students are required to appear in quizzes, midterms, final examination, give presentation, participate in group discussion and submit projects/assignments/lab reports. They (to be determined by the teacher concerned) will have different weightage contributing towards the overall assessment in percent marks. The weightage would be determined on the following guidelines.

Note: Examination fee Rs.1200/-will be charged for Final Examination in each semester.

 

Attendance

  • A student must have attended at least 80% of the classes held in a course in order to be allowed to sit in the final examination.
  • In case a student joins a course later, she will responsible for missed quizzes, assignments and lectures. The marks in missed quizzes will be considered zero and make- up tests, assignments, projects and labs will be required.
  • There will be no Supplementary Special Examination in Semester System.
  • If a student fails in any subject of semester, she will have to repeat the course when offered.

 

Marks will be awarded on good attendance according to the following rule:

The College follows the grading system given as under:-

Probation or dropping rules

Probation is a status granted to the student whose academic performance falls below the minimum University standard.

  • If an undergraduate student’s CGPA is less than 2.00 in the semester she will be on 1st probation for next semester.
  • If a student fails in three or more courses of the first semester and her GPA less than 2.00, she will not be promoted. She will have to study 1st semester courses after having approval of the Vice Chancellor.
  • If the undergraduate student in the second or onward semester, then again, she will go on “Last probation”.
  • If the student having the last probation does not improve her CGPA to 2.00, she will be dropped. She will take re-admission in that particular academic year. Re-admission during 4 years BS degree program is allowed only once.

 

Note: Probation or dropping rules may be modified according to HEC announcements.

 

Rules for Freezing the Semester

  • If a student freezes a semester(s), she will resume her studies from the same stage where she left.
  • No freezing during the semester will be allowed. The maximum duration of the degree program shall remain the same.
  • In special hardship cases, the University may develop any criteria for freezing a semester with the prior permission of the Vice Chancellor.
  • The duration of freezing is one year; a candidate who gets a semester freeze can get re-admission next year with upcoming session but hardship cases can be considered by the competent authority only.
  • Freezing of first semester is not allowed. Freezing of Semester will only be allowed after successful completion of 1st

 Rules for Repeating Courses

  • Whenever a student fails or gets a “F” grade, she has to repeat the course, whenever offered
  • Undergraduate students can repeat a D grade if the CGPA is less than 2.0
  • A student can be allowed to repeat a maximum of six courses (18 credit hours) to improve their grades at undergraduate level.

In case a student repeats the course which has already been taken the old grade will be substituted with the new grade, (for CGPA calculation).

CGPA Required for the Completion of Degree

For completion of the degree, the minimum qualifying CGPA for BS students is 2.00. In case a student secures less than 2.00 CGPA (minimum qualifying CGPA) at the end of final Semester, she may be allowed to repeat one or more courses, in which her Grade is D, with the coming specific semester.

 

Code of Examination for M. Phil Program   

 

CGPA required for Degree Completion of M.Phil programs is as under:

  • Students obtaining CGPA 2.50 and above will be entitled for award of the degree.
  • Whenever student’s CGPA decreases from 2.50 in the semester she will be on 1st probation for next semester.
  • If a student fails in three or more courses of the first semester and her GPA less than 2.50 she will not be promoted. She will have to study 1st semester courses after having approval of the Dean.
  • If the student does not improve her CGPA to 2.50 in the second or onward semester, then again, she will go on “Last probation”.
  • If the student who was earlier on 1st probation, does not improve the last probation by achieving the minimum desired CGPA, she shall be dropped.

Repeating courses

  • Whenever a student fails or gets a “F” grade, she has to repeat the course, whenever offered
  • The students can repeat a “C” grade if the CGPA is less than 2.50.
  • A student can be allowed to repeat maximum of three courses (9 credit hours) to improve their grades.

In case a student repeats the course which has already been taken the old grade will be substituted with the new grade, (for C.GPA calculation).

Note: Repeat Examination fee will be charged separately for each course/semester according to University policy.

Summer Semester

  1. Summer Semester has been introduced for the students who have to repeat their courses .Maximum 8 credit hours for Summer Semester is allowed.
  2. In marginal/hardship cases Dean /Head of the Department will prepare the case of student and seek approval from the Vice Chancellor.

CGPA Required for the Completion of Degree

In case a student secures less than 2.50 CGPA (minimum qualifying CGPA) at the end of final Semester, she may be allowed to repeat one or more courses, in which her Grade is below C, with the coming specific semester.

Examination Policy

  • Passing marks are 40%.
  • Students must pass the send up Examinations with 45% aggregate marks for eligibility for final Examination.
  • Students are not allowed to appear in the examination if dues are not clear.
  • 80% attendance is compulsory for the home examination.
  • Students using unfair means are liable to be expelled from the college.
  • Students who fail in one or more Sharia subjects will be given a chance to clear them in the supplementary examination.
  • In case of absence from Final Term Examinations, the student will appear in next Final Term Examinations when offered.

Supplementary Examination

  • Students can give supplementary examination within two years after Final Examination. If she does not contact college administration within two years, then college will cancel her result.
  • Students will be allowed to take supplementary examination, if she fails in any of the papers of Final Examination.
  • If she again fails in supplementary examination, then college council or Principal has the authority to hold special supplementary Exams with fee as per following details.

Permission of Writer for Special Students

  • In case a student is physically handicapped/visually impaired, she may apply to the principal with medical certificate as proof of her disability) for permission to engage a writer in Tests/ Examinations of the University two weeks before the start of Tests/ Examinations. She will be allowed 45 minutes (maximum) extra time to solve the question paper.
  • The qualification of the person who acts as writer of a handicapped student must be at least one step lower than that of the student. (e.g. for grade 12 student, the writer should be of grade 11)
